The $1 million Coordinated Emergency Fodder Support Package aims to assist the state government with the extraordinary costs of undertaking emergency livestock support activities to ensure primary producers have access to emergency fodder crucial for sustaining cattle and mitigating the impacts of flooding and loss of pasture in areas impacted by the North and Far North Tropical Low, commencing 29 January 2025.
- This assistance measure is designed to assist landholders/lessee who have had 30 per cent or more of their grazing area affected by the disaster OR animals isolated on island.
- Landholder/Lessee is unable to source or supply fodder themselves or have no farm feed sources including pasture or stored fodder.
- Landholder/Lessee has made genuine attempts to source their own fodder.
Eligibility
The Coordinated Fodder Support Package will be implemented in the following LGAs based on need:
- Flinders Shire Council
- Charters Towers Regional Council
- Burdekin Shire Council
- Cairns Regional Council
- Cassowary Coast Regional Council
- Hinchinbrook Shire Council
- Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council
- Townsville City Council
- Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council

Status
The Coordinated Fodder Support Package under Category D of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) has been activated for the nine most affected local governments in Queensland following this event. Funding acknowledgement
The package is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments to support Queensland communities in their recovery from North and Far North Tropical Low, commencing 29 January 2025.
