Legislation

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) was established under the Queensland Reconstruction Authority Act 2011 following unprecedented natural disasters that struck Queensland over the summer months of 2010-11.

A legislative amendment that came into effect on 11 June 2015 made QRA a permanent part of the Queensland Government.

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority Act 2011 was then amended in 2019 and in 2024 to reflect QRA's roles and responsibilities for all hazards and to lead resilience and recovery policy.

Reporting

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) reports to the Minister for Local Government and Water and Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers, the Honourable Ann Leahy MP, and the Queensland Reconstruction Board.
