Community Relief Fund – 2025 North and Far North Tropical Low
About
The $8 million Community Relief Fund is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments to support Queensland communities in their clean-up efforts from the North and Far North Tropical Low Commencing 29 January 2025 event.
The Community Relief Fund is available to impacted councils to undertake essential immediate recovery activities. Funding of up to $1 million per local government area is available.
The package provides timely and immediate support to impacted councils to remove waste and debris, clean-up properties, community facilities, playground and parks, and undertake other make safe activities as required by council to progress with local recovery.
Eligible councils
$5 million dollars immediately available (up to $1 million each) for the following LGAs:
- Burdekin
- Cassowary Coast
- Hinchinbrook
- Palm Island
- Townsville
$3 million reserved (up to $1 million each) for at risk LGAs subject to Ministerial approval:
- Whitsunday
- Charters Towers
- Yarrabah
