Mental Health Recovery - 2025 Tropical Cyclone Alfred and Associated Rainfall and Flooding

About

The $9.19 million Mental Health Disaster Recovery package will allow people directly impacted by the Tropical Cyclone Alfred and Associated Severe Weather, 1 - 16 March 2025 to access a range of psychological support services.

The objectives of the package are to: 

• provide members of disaster-affected communities - focusing on vulnerable communities’ members, families and children as priority groups - have their psychological support and mental health needs arising from the disaster and its sequelae met
• ensure communities are better equipped to understand how to respond to future disasters in ways that are more protective of their mental health and wellbeing
• reduce the mental health impact of disasters and disaster-related adversity and other community crises
• reduce stigma and other barriers to accessing mental health treatment, care and support
• enhance the natural resilience of individuals, and communities in the face of adversity.
