Western Downs Bushfire Risk and Resilience Strategy - 2023 Southern Queensland Bushfires

The $500,000 Western Downs Bushfire Risk and Resilience Strategy will increase the understanding and implementation of proactive bushfire mitigation strategies to inform and support community recovery and resilience from the Southern Queensland Bushfires, 8 September – 7 November 2023 event. The package will ensure the most updated and current bushfire data is available to councils to assist in updating their local government planning schemes.
Funding acknowledgement
The package is funded by the Queensland Government using efficiencies realised under the joint Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) to support Queensland communities in their recovery from the Southern Queensland Bushfires, 8 September – 7 November 2023 event.
Delivery agency
The Bushfire Resilient Communities Unit, Queensland Fire Department (QFD) will lead the project in collaboration with Western Downs Regional Council, Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) Darling District Bushfire Mitigation Team and QRA’s Hazard & Risk Team.
